This card set is a practical tool for conversation, reflection, and planning at end of life.

The set contains 25 cards (10 × 15 cm / 4 × 6 in), printed on matte card and packaged in an organza drawstring bag. Each card carries a question on one side and practical guidance on the other. An additional index card lists all 25 questions for easy reference.

The cards address how support can be provided across the various stages of the end of life journey, for the person dying and for those close to them. They reflect the approach at the heart of end of life doula practice: centred on comfort care, an environment of support, and living with illness rather than dying from it.

Each question is considered from multiple angles. How can the accompanying quote inform the way we show up? Who is asking this question — the doula, the client, a carer, or someone else? And what practical information does it connect to? This structure makes the cards useful whether you are preparing for a conversation, working through one in real time, or reflecting afterwards.

The prompts explore practical, emotional, and relational dimensions of end of life, helping to surface what matters most, clarify preferences, and open conversations that are often difficult to begin.

Suitable for use one-on-one, in family conversations, or within professional practice. Useful for end of life doulas, health and care professionals, individuals planning ahead, or anyone supporting someone through this stage of life.

The cards can be used at your own pace, revisited over time, and adapted to the person and situation. They are designed to be a starting point, not a script.

A conversation tool and companion resource, drawn directly from the Preparing the Way's Intensive Course.
